Hypnotic Poetry: From Creative Experimentation to Application

Remember the childhood rhymes, the jingles of television ads, or that sweeping poem of your adolescence which seemed to wake your inner-vision? A certain breed of poems weave spells, induce trance and hypnotize. Not merely because of their “artistic beauty,” rather based on well-established principles of hypnosis. My presentation, Hypnotic Poetry, studies this cross-section between language and hypnosis. It shows with literary analysis how such poetry can aid and inform the writing of new or novel suggestions and inductions. One does not need talent or even an interest in poetry to glean from this presentation useful tools to bring to the therapy room.
