Insurance is an essential component of responsible professional practice. For hypnotherapists, appropriate insurance coverage helps protect both the practitioner and the clients they serve, while reinforcing professional credibility and accountability.
Insurance
As a professional association, the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE) plays an important role in supporting its members’ access to insurance by upholding recognized standards of education, ethics, and professional conduct.
Why Association Membership Matters to Insurers
Insurance providers assess risk based on training, ethical standards, and professional oversight. Membership in a well-established organization such as ACHE signals to insurers that a practitioner:
-
Has met defined educational and certification standards
-
Is bound by a formal Code of Ethics
-
Is accountable to an established professional body
-
Is committed to ongoing professionalism and responsible practice
For this reason, many insurance companies require or strongly prefer affiliation with a recognized professional association when offering coverage to hypnotherapists.
Professional Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance
Professional Errors and Omissions insurance—sometimes referred to as Professional Liability Insurance—is designed to protect practitioners in the event of claims related to their professional services.
As a member of ACHE, you may be eligible to access E&O insurance providers who offer coverage specifically to qualified hypnotherapy professionals affiliated with recognized organizations. While ACHE does not endorse or recommend any single insurance provider, many members have successfully obtained professional liability coverage through companies that recognize ACHE certification and membership.
One such provider used by some members is the American Professional Agency and Lockton Affinity Health and Professional Liability Insurance. However, practitioners are encouraged to research and select the insurance coverage that best meets their individual needs and circumstances.

Health, Dental, and Life Insurance
In addition to professional liability coverage, practitioners may also seek personal insurance options such as health, dental, or life insurance. Availability and eligibility for these types of coverage vary by provider and location. While ACHE does not arrange or administer these policies, affiliation with a professional organization can sometimes support access to group-rate or profession-recognized plans, depending on the insurer.
A Commitment to Professional Integrity
ACHE’s role is not to sell or broker insurance, but to uphold the standards that make insurance access possible. By maintaining rigorous certification requirements, ethical guidelines, and professional accountability, ACHE helps create the foundation of trust that insurers rely upon when offering coverage to hypnotherapists.
Membership in ACHE reflects a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and responsible practice—qualities that benefit practitioners, clients, and the profession as a whole.
