The ACHE is a non-profit organization directed by a Board of Directors, guided by the Executive Director, and supported by an Office Manager, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Other than the Office Manager, all other positions are unpaid and voluntary. We manage incoming concerns with the support and advice of the committees assigned to specific topics.
These committees meet to research and deliberate on impending issues, to provide the Board with their findings, so the Board may make informed decisions in the best interest of our organization and its members.
Structure of a Committee
Typically, each committee has between two and five members, and the members apply for committee membership at any time, by filling out and submitting an online form. The committees sought by an applicant may depend on the member’s particular talents and skills. These applications are reviewed by the Board. It can be helpful if the Chair is a Board member, so the Chair position may cycle in and out as Board membership evolves, but it is not necessary for acceptance. Some committees are more active than others, and some tend to be busier seasonally.
Committee membership is a fulfilling and meaningful way to be an active, contributing part of our membership, while being of service to the greater hypnotherapy community, to help promote and protect the free and open practice of hypnotherapy. An ideal candidate is one who is willing and able to promptly and actively give time to the projects of the committee they attend.
Standing Advisory Committees
Conference and Events Committee
The Conference and Events Committee plans and organizes ACHE conferences, online webinars, and other events, and makes recommendations for review and approval by the Board. In conjunction with Marketing, they develop and produce content for the website, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms to promote and advertise upcoming community and educational opportunities.
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee endorses and promotes our organization’s work. It helps to spread the word about the nature, attributes, and effective uses of hypnotherapy. It also works to inform members and hypnotherapists in the greater community of the many educational webinars, conferences, and projects led by ACHE and its members. In addition to this, it contains a subcommittee responsible for the care and maintenance of the website.
Education and Training Standards Committee
The Education & Training Standards Committee works to ensure that ACHE’s high standards in the field of hypnotherapy continue to be upheld and maintained. This committee reviews the work of member schools, ensuring proper training methods and materials, in order to make quality recommendations for review and approval by the Board.
Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee reviews incoming ethical concerns or complaints received by the administrative office. The work of this committee is to ensure adherence to the ethical practice standards of ACHE as outlined in the Code of Ethics. Once a complaint or concern regarding or by a member is received, it is referred to this committee for research and deliberation so that they may advise the Board of Directors.
The Finance Committee
The finance committee, led by the ACHE Treasurer, establishes appropriate financial and accounting procedures for auditing the ACHE books annually. The Finance Committee develops an annual budget under the direction of the Executive Director, for review and approval by the Board.
The Governance Committee
The Governance Committee researches and recommends any necessary updates and amendments to the Bylaws and other governing documents of the ACHE.
Membership Committee
The Membership committee was established to provide a port from which to welcome new and potential members, and to facilitate communication between the Board and our existing Members.
The Strategic Plan Committee
The Strategic Plan Committee was created in 2024 for the purpose of defining and pursuing clear goals for ACHE until 2030. As time moves on, the 5-year plan is meant to evolve along with the evolving needs of the organization.
